Just a reminder to those of you who have not yet applied for the Canada Summer Jobs program – the deadline of February 26 is fast approaching.
Canada Summer Jobs provides wage subsidies for hiring summer students, reimbursing 50% of provincial minimum wage for each full-time work placement up to 16 weeks in duration. This federal funding program is open to private sector employers with 50 or fewer full-time employees in Canada, offering meaningful career-related work experience for current students.
There are countless ways in which a student hire could be of benefit to your business.
For example, if your company claims SR&ED tax credits, why not hire a student to help with the documentation of your R&D projects? RDP has always maintained that proper documentation is key to a successful SR&ED claim, and having a dedicated summer student on the task each year can go a long way to smoothing the claim process with CRA.
Don’t miss out on this valuable opportunity to add young talent to your business at minimal cost.
